Ensures efficient inventory management and meeting customer demands. The Demand Planner is responsible for working collaboratively with the respective Category Managers, and Sales Executives across a range of commodities to create and maintain accurate forecasts and inventory allocation plans to ensure optimal and strategic inventory positioning for each commodity. This position collaborates with cross-functional teams including Sales, Marketing, Operations and Commercial.  

Junior
  • BS in Business Management, Economics, Marketing, International Trade, or Industrial and/or Process Engineer or equivalent years of experience
  • 2 years in a similar role, preferably in logistics environment.
  • Collects, analyses, and presents information in proper formats
  • Works under some guidance/general instructions, supported by senior colleague/management
  • Basic knowledge on business processes related to own discipline
  • Relies on senior colleagues to provide accurate solutions for issues.
Mid
  • BS in Business Management, Economics, Marketing, International Trade, or Industrial and/or Process Engineer or equivalent years of experience
  • 3-5 years in a similar role, preferably in logistics environment.
  • Makes analysis and presents findings to influence decision making
  • Works under general supervision, mid-term and results are checked, attunes when needed
  • Good knowledge of business processes related to own, discipline proactively anticipates on developments
  • Notices bottlenecks, suggests solutions, and attunes with senior colleagues when needed.
  • Participates in tactical projects and leads operational projects. More coordinative role and coaching less experienced colleagues.

Key activities and general responsibilities
Forecasting
  • Develop demand forecasts (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function and ensure execution of the demand forecast/plan created.
Supply and Demand Reporting
  • Prepare weekly or monthly supply and demand reports for various internal and external partners to facilitate monitoring of supply levels and ensure alignment with demand forecasts.
  • Provide insights and analysis on inventory trends, demand fluctuations, and potential supply constraints to support decision-making.
Inventory Allocation and Monitoring 
  • Monitor inventory availability, aging inventory, operational capacity constraints, and inventory supply levels to adjust forecasts based on demand and market conditions at the origin.
  • Determine strategies for aged or distressed items based on customer demand volumes and new sales opportunities.
  • Recommending inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs to commercial team.
  • Ensure proper inventory allocation and FIFO adherence.
Commercial Support             
  • Provide commercial team with overview reports and feedback on customer demand and additional sales needs.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers.
  • Market research and analysis
Costing
  • Understand pricing of current commodity in the marketplace
  • Analyze costing for potential new suppliers based given specifications.
  • Sales Contract pricing
Logistics/Operations
  • Calculate warehouse costs and receive product into inventory in compliance with accounting protocols.
  • Create inbound cost approvals for receiving product into inventory.
  • Work closely with suppliers, customs brokers, warehouses and transportation carriers to ensure timely delivery.

Knowledge required
  • Experience in food or other perishable commodities
  • Experience in an import/export environment
  • Knowledge of ERP based systems
  • Exceptional math and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting processes and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts
  • Proficiency with MS Office; Excel high intermediate to advanced level skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Extremely detail oriented.
  • Ability to solve challenging problems, prioritize, meet deadlines and work with moderate direction.
  • Handles stressful situations and deadline pressures well.

Hiring details

  2. Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm or 9:00am-6:00pm (daylight saving / summer time)
