Quality Assurance Associate (manufacturing environment and food industry)

The role of the Quality Assurance (QA) Associate entails the meticulous organization and upkeep of all QA documentation, encompassing pertinent data stored in Windows, SharePoint, and Axapta systems. Furthermore, this position involves collaboration with suppliers to guarantee the accessibility of the latest and most precise information for evaluation by the Quality Assurance Managers and Traders. The QA Associate maintains a close working relationship with the QA Managers and QA Specialists to expedite the resolution of particular food safety or product quality concerns with suppliers. Additionally, this role encompasses more advanced responsibilities, such as undertaking special projects and other assignments beyond the scope mentioned herein, as directed.

Academic/training requirements:

  • Minimum academic training: BSc in food technology
  • Primary area of professional training: Computer Science, Systems, or related Engineering
  • Languages: Spanish & English B2/C1
  • Positions for junior professionals with relevant QA experience in manufacturing environment and food industry

Specific knowledge required:

  • Organic food processing industry
  • ERP systems and QA/Food safety systems
  • Relevant prevailing quality and food safety regulations and organic standards
  • GMP
  • MS Office (Word, PP, Excel)

Responsibilities/tasks to be executed according to the final role:

  • Executes data maintenance and input requests pertaining to QA procedures.
  • Contributes to the creation and upkeep of product specifications.
  • Compiles and dispatches annual requirement documents to clients upon request.
  • Offers customer service assistance in collaboration with the logistics and Traders teams.
  • Scrutinizes documentation for completeness and engages with suppliers and QA managers for data clarification.
  • Organization, filing, and assessment of Certificates of Analysis (COAs) from vendors for all sourced ingredients.
  • For potential and new suppliers, manages the storage and recording of food quality and safety information.
  • For existing suppliers, initiates and sustains current food safety and quality data (e.g., audits, HACCP).
  • Interfaces with third-party warehouses concerning incoming product inspections, sampling, external laboratory tests, and investigations into complaints.
  • Contributes to the oversight and compilation of documentation for certifications (e.g., organic, Kosher) for active items, driving continuous improvements.
  • Helps in developing optimal methodologies and champions ongoing enhancements and operational efficiencies for the team.
  • Adheres to the company's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety protocols (including the use of Personal Protective Equipment when necessary), and all other quality protocols.
